Lacquer thinner is safe to use to remove paint from an antique?
Yes, it is safe and not damage the wood. This is essentially a stripper ATM (the main ingredients of lacquer thinner). See the link below. In office until the "painting" may or may not be very effective. If the "painting" is the pigmented lacquer work better. Just use lots of ventilation and avoid open flames.
