Is it illegal for the store's Security Cameras to record the audio?
Most stores have some sort of system security which includes CCTV. But is it illegal for the cameras to also record audio – and employees these cameras as well listen to private conversations? Or are the customers that precedes these rights to privacy once they enter in the store?
Yes, in some states it is illegal to record the voice of a person WHOLE without their consent. This is the law in Massachusetts, found under the wiretap laws. It does not matter if you are in public, on private property or on the seat back of a police car, recording your voice requires your consent (implied if not actual). If signs or rating other specifically for you warn in your language and Braille, as you enter the warehouse constitutes a consent to be recorded, that they can raise their defense to criminal charges.
